The purpose of this essay is to propose and define the concepts Ritulum & Rituscene.
To, in such an effort, describe the circuitry of a figurative image and, most critically, the technology of body language as it pertains primarily to images.
Ritulum, coming from the latin Ritus with a diminutive suffix, is a constructed word referring to the micro-rite organized through pose, posture, or gesture in an image which acts as a form of antenna for meaningful inscription. This Ritulum, which communicates a behavior, identity, or possession, can be viewed as a summoning praxis for the emotion, egregore, concept or spirit being captured therein. By extension, it is the exact mechanism by which the human body expresses the nonphysical in the third dimension.
The Rituscene (Ritulum + Scene) refers to the Ritula in the expanded field. Objects, setting, light, atmosphere, dress, sign. Extrapolations from the body such as gaze, breath, grip, touch, and shout etc are where the Ritula and the Rituscene come into contact. The constructed reality is made of that which acts (host), and the surrounding, necessary, complementary conditions for such an action to occur.
